The historical centre of Venice, which resembles the form of a fish, is divided in six sestieri: Santa Croce, Dorsoduro, San Polo, Cannaregio, San Marco, Castello.
To reach Venice by land you must cross a street bridge over the Lagoon of approximately four kilometres. The final stop is Piazzale Roma (the automobile terminal) or Santa Lucia (the train station). From here you may only continue on foot or by boat entering suddenly into another dimension. There are no cars but gondolas, there are no buses but vaporetti, and you will be able to calmly walk admiring with your own eyes what the ancient Venetian people used to see.
The B&B Ada’s House in Venice, in the historical sestiere of Santa Croce, may be easily reached on foot in just a few minutes.

The view on the canal Rio Marin with its gondolas and on the ancient palaces and gardens is really suggestive. Though part of the private home of the owners, the B&B is structured in a way that you will be indeed independent.
Moreover all around you, besides bars, restaurants and confectioner’s shops, you’ll have a lot of other shops of different kinds, such as food shops with typical products and supermarkets. This will let you share the unusual way of living happily in an ancient city with no cars, where you can quietly walk and chat looking about. You will be able to know the true face of Venice.
